Are you ready to be heartbroken ?

The season is coming to an end and it looks like the words of Lloyd Cole may come true.

But were Not quite ready to be heartbroken just yet.Weve come through 2 wins against AFC Llwydcoed ,3-0 on both occasions and yet another game where weve been the better side against runaway leaders Llanelli 2-2 away,3-3 at home.A crowd of just under 300 at home was surely the shape of things to come with a successful Pontypridd Town.

I write this on the eve of our final home game v Aberbargoed Buds ( lower mid table ) And although we are still third we can be overtaken by Cwmamman United who have at the last count 4 games in hand on Pontypridd.

We may yet achieve our dream of regaining our place in the Welsh League first division. However if not this season then next …………or the one after.

Whats important is 2 years ago we nearly slipped out of the Welsh league. And the new expectancy and feel good factor around the club needs to keep going.

Whatever the outcome of this season its been a fantastic season for the club.We should all feel proud of this.

I have feeling and a hope that Pontypridd Town are going places and I hope for one that we can take as many people with us on that journey as possible

Last night a football club saved my life ( from a broken heart ).

The 3 musketeers from Pontypridd arrive at Gelli Park,Home to AFC Porth

Welsh League Division 2

AFC Porth 2 Pontypridd Town 2

Due to Wales playing in France ( chase the egg ) at the same time a sparse crowd was present.

However they were to witness a good solid local derby where passion sometimes over took skill.

Pontypridd will be the happier of the 2 sides equalising at the death.

Coming from watching my country ( wales ) in the euro 2016 finals.

Watching my local team has really rekindled my love for the game .

Watching Cardiff City had become like a visit to and old pub you once enjoyed visiting regularly that had been redeveloped.

The shell intact but everything else including clientele changed.

Its not for everyone but its right for me.

And I’m not alone 😉

Pontypridd like many other towns in the South Wales valleys has seen better times.

Sport has always been a big deal round our way, that and music.

Life in the mines and steelworks was tough, and recreation time valued.

Hence the plethora of sports clubs ,rugby, football, cricket amongst others.

Rugby has been the predominant sport historically.

However something special happened in 2016,Wales football team reached a major finals for the first time since 1958

After spending a lot of my summer in the South of France ( tough times )

Watching Wales get to the semi finals of Euro 2016 confidence was high for the forthcoming season. In particular it was optimism for an influx of fans who had been caught up with the football bug.

This doesnt yet seem to have translated down to W.P.L or Welsh League clubs.

Come on down ! its football, its exciting, its grass roots, its getting off your arse and switching sky sports off and sharing a football experience that Chelsea on a super sunday just cant give you.

Where else can you hear Teenage fan club pre match ?
